NJIT has joined with neighboring Rutgers-Newark to create a Federated Department of Biological Sciences.  Within the university, close ties between Biology and the Departments of Chemistry, Physics, Biomedical Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Mathematics, and Computer Science have led to interdisciplinary initiatives that benefit both undergraduate and graduate students. Prominent among these are collaborative efforts in genomics, molecular modeling and drug discovery, robotics, rehabilitation therapies, and computational neuroscience.
