




The Department of Physics is a participant in the NJIT Rutgers-Newark Joint Applied Physics BS, MS, and PhD degrees. The Department is also an active participant in the NJIT interdisciplinary programs of MS and PhD in Materials Science and Engineering (MtSE). The academic programs of the physics department are aimed at educating students so they may participate in the research and development of the new technologies which are revolutionizing the world. The technologies which are of particular interest at this time are optical sciences and engineering, condensed matter physics, device physics, materials science, and solar and terrestrial physics. The physics faculty and the seventy graduate students are currently involved in research and commercial development activities in these areas.
