NJIT Community Mourns the Passing of Dr. Armand Berliner

Written by: Christina Crovetto,

It was with great sorrow to learn of the passing of Armand Berliner, formerly assistant professor of mathematics at NJIT from 1963 through his retirement in 2005. Throughout his 43 years in the classroom, Armand was beloved by his students and colleagues, and his family became part of our campus family. Armand's daughter, Michelle Berliner Frumer, is a member of the NJIT Class of 1991. Another daughter, Dr. Nicole Berliner Koppel, has taught as an adjunct professor at NJIT and served as a summer program coordinator. Armand's other daughter, Suzanne Berliner Heyman, continues to work in NJIT's Center for Pre-College Programs. Additionally, Armand was a 1965 graduate of the Newark College of Engineering. As a result of the Berliner family's generosity, there is an endowed scholarship for mathematics in Armand's name at NJIT. My sympathies go out to the entire Berliner family. Armand is fondly remembered by the NJIT community.
